I've never actually tried, but have thought about it in the past. At the moment, I have no desire or reason to quit. Besides, I just got a taste of what it'd be like to quit; I just returned to Los Angeles from Germany. 17 hours without a cigarette was long enough for me!

I don't "know" how hard it is to quit, but I can imagine how hard it is not only to quit, but to stay quit. My daughter is 34, been smoking since she was 16. She's tried several times, but never got very far. She plans to go on Zyban this spring, after she gets home from visting me. My late husband had been quit for several years when we first met, but within just a few weeks of us starting a relationship, he was smoking again. I don't think there's an addiction more powerful.

I quit almost 7 years ago after smoking for 12 years. I had tried before that numerous times, but it never stuck.

When I met dh I told him I didn't date smokers. He tossed his pack and hasn't smoked one since. I am glad that it was so incredibly easy for him. It would have sucked to miss out on the amazingness that is my husband.
