Those gorgeous pictures of our food in our advertisements?

Those gorgeous pictures of our food in our advertisements?

They’re airbrushed and touched up with fiberglass and paint. It probably takes two hours to make that picture; obviously, we’re not going to be able to replicate that.

I always thought that was obvious. Ice cream displays are usually scoops of lard.

Oh yes, I believed they touched it up or even made up their own picture.

That is why I like recipe sites that people share their real food pics. Such as:

Do people not know this?! LOL.

I saw a special on some news program YEARS ago (I was maybe 10) about how they make these pictures, and other pictures. The bowl of cereal on the cereal box? Filled with Crisco, the splashes are plastic.

See a picture of a drink with an ice cube (or whatever) being dropped in and it's splashing out? Glass hung on fishing wire at different lengths.

etc etc etc. Everyone knows that stuff isn't food.

It's true of most food photos and displays... But wouldn't it be fun to see a "behind the scenes" on creating them sometime?
