Not celebrating Valentines Day?

It's my first year of not doing anything. And... I feel pretty happy about it!

I always love doing stuff for my boys! I think that even though I'm not doing anything with my spouse, I'll cut my 5 year olds sandwhiches in heart shapes and stick a little Valentine in his lunch box or something.

We never get each other anything or do anything special.  We get the kids a box of chocolates and a card but that is it.

My birthday is the 18th. One year my husband was all 'I thought we were just combinging them!' (V-day and my B-day) and that sort of helped solidify my ambivilance with the holiday.

My husband really isn't the extremely 'festive' type.

The more I ask about this, the more I see it's really common to just do stuff for the kids.

I wonder if it's turning into more like Halloween. Where it's primarily a kid centered holiday...
