beyond the kitchen: dry milk

to remove bloodstains: make a paste with equal parts dry milk & water, massage mixture into the stain (using a cleaning brush or toothbrush works best).  rinse with water.

make your own milk bath:  simple add the dry milk to your warm bath water, (to your taste ;o)  soaking in this bath for 15min is a good moisturizer & great for psoriasis.  soaking in this bath for 20min is good to relieve sunburn pain.

facials: 1. mix 1/2c dry milk with enough water to make a thick paste.  apply to face, let dry & rinse off.

poison ivy/insect bites: mix 1c dry milk & 2.5c water in a large rubbermaid container with lid.  fill the rest of the container with ice & sprinkle tbslp salt over ice.  saturate a washcloth in the solution & apply to the affected area 3-4 times daily for 20min.

dog baths/deodorizing:  adding 2c of dry milk to your pets bathwater helps to neutralize smells & soften their coat

I'm interested in more poison ivy remedies too... I'm terribly allergic, and I love to hang out in the woods!

One thing that has helped with itching is to make kind of a tea out of jewel weed, and soak the affected area. It does provide some relief for me.
