My daughter got gold at state solo contest on Saturday. Oh and she plays the marimba.

She even has some kind of flu. That was the first day of it and she just thought she was dehydrated. She went straight from solo to perform with her percussion ensemble at contest. She barley made it.

Lol it's ok. Before she started playing it, I would have called it a xylophone. She'd hit me ( well at least zap me with a very dirty look) if I called it a xylophone though. She can play a xylophone and a vibraphone as well. In terms of the ensemble the marimba is the most difficult of the 3.

Lol, yes my phone and my thumbs will be blamed for any typos.

She started when she was in 6 th grade band so almost 4 years. She's in percussion and percussionist play every percussion instrument. Marimba, base drum, snare and even the hated triangle. Percussionists usually branch off to what section they are better at. In marching band you would see the group up front that doesn't march. That's the pit and those are the marimbas and vibes and other instrument you can't march with. That's her expertise. She can play a snare, she just doesn't prefer it. I think it's because she doesn't want to march lol.

She does play the drum set as well though.
