Adjusting to Daylight Savings Time

Dr. Sunita Kumar, a sleep specialist at Loyola University Medical Center near Chicago, said there are ways to make the adjustment to having lost an hour of sleep Monday morning. For example, start going to bed and getting up a few minutes earlier each day.

Kumar also suggests:

-- Don't nap on the Saturday before the time change.

-- To help reset your internal body clock, expose yourself to sunlight in the morning as early as you can. This will help advance your circadian rhythm.

-- Eat dinner earlier, back up your nighttime routine and dim the lights in the evening.

-- Try to get children to bed earlier, too.

"I know I need to do this for my kids," Kumar said.

Go to bed early I guess.
(sadly, I'll feel it hard on Monday!)

I do not understand why we still need daylight savings time. I wish all the states would do like Arizona and just do away with it.

I'm totally screwed this year regardless of what I do.  The last few days, I've either had to get up very early or had insomnia, so I am rather sleep-deprived.  As for no nap the Saturday before, screw that.  I took a 2 hour nap this afternoon because I was so exhausted.  I never nap, but I badly needed it.  I'm sure I'll sleep like a log tonight in spite of the nap, though.  I'm still quite tired.

I'm sick. Dd hasn't slept well all week due to a knee injury and ds is still up because hubby is slacking on getting him to bed.
Yep it's going to hit us hard.

My son passed out at 7:30 and if he sleeps for 12 hours it will be perfect because he will wake up at 8:30 like always. This is the result of him getting less than 10 hours of sleep the last 2 nights and refusing to nap both days. Now if i could just sleep myself we'd be all set.

I tried to put my son to bed early and failed that. Now I can't sleep because my FIL wanted Mexican, so we went out to a restaurant and I thought that the grilled chicken sandwich would be safe, but now my stomach is still upset, ugh! I hate heart burn!
