Do you make your family's birthday cakes or buy them at a bakery?

I buy them.  I like making cakes but I am not good at icing.

I usually buy the cake mix and icing and bake it myself.

Both because at school any baked goods must come from the store..

I always make my husband's cause his favorite is homemade orange with homemade orange icing. My oldest's first birthday I had it made at the bakery, but his last two I made them.

I used to buy them.  I think I bought them for my older son's first 2 bdays.  Now I make them.  It's much cheaper, plus it's so much fun!  I'll see if I can find some pics of them.  They're not professional quality, but, hey, they just have character, right?  :)

3 moms liked this

This was the first cake I did.  My mom helped me and it took FOREVER!  However, DS loved it, so it was well worth it :)
