Vests are really useful outerwear for anyone in the family, especially in fall. They warm your core and add an extra layer of protection from the wind and cold, but keep your arms free so you don't overheat. The lack of sleeves makes it easier to wear a few layers underneath too, or one big thicker sweater below your outerwear, without feeling restrictive or constrained the way a regular coat does.
This fall, I can't help but notice TONS of adorable and cool looking vests all around when I'm shopping, browsing, or just hanging out in the park with my kid. She got a super cute vest from her aunt last fall with apples on it, but unfortunately, she's not that into vests anymore now-maybe she will change her mind back as the days get cooler. Another nice thing about vests, to me, is that they allow you to postpone the inevitable, somewhat annoying need to wear a coat for months and months every freezing day. It helps feel like it's still fall, which of course it is, even when the mornings are getting quite crisp and the frost is near now.
Here are a whole bunch of great fall vests, in all sorts of styles and materials from sporty, cozy fleece to more stylish wool blends like tweed or plaid, extra-warm and cute puffy down in polka dotted, vests in shearling or faux-fur, and almost any other colors, patterns and materials in between you can imagine, in stores now:
Does your family wear vests? Which kind do you like best?
