socks, crayons or small markers, fruit snacks, gift cards (low amount like $5 to Burger King, etc), cars, flash cards, small amount of candy, small stuffed animal (dollar store has dollar ones). I like to raid the baskets at Target and the dollar store.

My kids always get: Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Christmas Socks, Hershey Kiss Cane, and a small toy.

Last year I got them Giant Microbes plushies, SO awesome.

stocking gifts for us are the little things we buy that could get lost under the tree amongst the bigger gifts, like jewelry, hotwheels, etc. we always put in a little bit on candy, lately it's been a box of coal from trader joes.  i've started putting a book in their stocking as well.
