My poor baby :(

He is only 20 months old and he can't get a break. He has a history of asthma issues. Took him to er on the 18th because he had low grade fever and lots of wheezing. They gave him some emergency treatments and antibiotics for ear infection and steroids at home. Followed up with pedi because he was still no better after a week and followed up again on Friday both times they said it's just a asthma flare up. Finally decided to see his pulminologist today. Turns out he has RSV and WALKING PNEUMONIA!! How in the world did both the er and the pedi miss this? He now is on a high dose steroid and a different antibiotic as well as his usual inhalers. Now we got to get him better because they are going to scope his airways to make sure he don't have any underlying issues beyond asthma.

ahh poor guy!  i hope he gets better soon! it sucks for us adults to be sick when we can do something about it but a little one who can't help himself....  poor guy!

i'm surprised his regular pedi missed all that but not surprised the er dr missed it.  especially if you went to a general er.  when my son hurt his finger i took him to a regular er rather than the children's because it was closer.  the dr didn't do a very good job sewing the finger back together & told me he didn't break any finger bones.  when i took the xray to the specialist later that week he put the xray in & said "well at least it was a small part of bone he broke off.  nothing to worry about, his bones still soft & the body will absorb it eventually".  i looked at him dumb founded & he showed me the xray.  right away i could see the tip of his finger bone was missing & floating off to the side.  now how the er dr missed that i don't know.  it's one thing to say what the specialist said about it but to tell me he didn't break any bone.  when i told this to the specialist he looked at the chart from the hospital & said "oh you saw dr x? yeah he's not so great with small children."  there's a reason why there are children's hospitals.  just to bad they aren't as many as regular hospitals.
