absolutely not, and they are not a real friend if they are asking you to.  you can get a felony if you are caught

No.  If they are looking at life then I would have to check myself on how I was friends with a person capable of a crime worthy of that sentence.

 If they did something so bad that they could get life in prison then I would definitely not lie and commit perjury.
