I made Korean Style Short Ribs and they were really good. I will be making these again, but what in heck do I do with the rest of the Sesame oil? I asked dh to pick it up for me. While we were eating he said that it was worth the cost????then he told me he paid over $10 for the sesame oil. It took me awhile to stop choking and sputtering...Really? I used two tablespoons of it! Now ladies how do I use the rest?

These are the ribs I made. Usually we do them on the grill, but it was too cold and windy, so I used a crockpot recipe. They were fall off the bone good. I didn't use the ginger because of an allergy.

Korean style short ribs

1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce

1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

2 tablespoons sesame oil

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger

4 garlic cloves, crushed

3 lbs beef short ribs or 5 lbs pork ribs

3 tablespoons cornstarch

1 1/2 cups shredded carrots

3 scallions, thrimmed and thinly sliced

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

3 cups cooked rice

Blend soy sauce, sugar, oil, vinegar, ginger, garlic and red pepper in bowl.

Place ribs in 5 quart slow cooker, add sauce. Cover, cook on High for 6 hours or Low for 9 hours, until meat is tender.

Transfer ribs to a platter. Skim and discard excess fat from liquid. Combine cornstarch and 3 tablespoons water; blend with liquid in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat and cook for 2 minutes, stirring, until thickened. Stir in carrots. Top ribs with sauce, scallions and sesame seeds.

Serve over cooked rice.

I love love love love Korean short ribs! OMG Mmmmmmm.

For sesame oil? You can use it in any Asian-inspired dish. (Duh me.) But I also like to use it in Indian food (it works nicely with curry, for example) and even to fry. You can use it if you pickle things, too, if you like the taste.

If you aren't a fan of the taste, I have a strong feeling it might hang out in your pantry for a long time, which is ok. I think it's got a good shelf life.
