My mom just reposted this on Facebook-and I must say-GOOD FOR THEM! Maybe all pharmacies should follow their lead!

CVS is the second largest drugstore chain in the United States and today they announced they will no longer be selling tobacco products.  It's a major blow for cigarette/tobacco companies.

This move affects more than 7,600 retail stores and will be completed by October 1.

The move comes after years of pressure from public health advocates and medical providers, who have urged retailers to make tobacco products and advertising less available, particularly to teenagers.

CVS will give up around $2 billion in lost revenue per year that cigarettes and other tobacoo products generated.

CVS said, "As the delivery of healthcare evolves with an emphasis on better health outcomes, reducing chronic disease and controlling costs, CVS Caremark is playing an expanded role in providing care...Put simply, the sale of tobacco products is inconsistent with our purpose."

Do you agree with CVS's move?
