I have an appointment tomorrow morning with a Retina Specialist. *Update in Replies pg 4*

I'm nervous. My regular eye doctor says I have the signs of Macular Degeneration (the dry type). I'm only 39, it scares the heck out of me that I'm already on my way to becoming blind.

It's not my first visit to the Retina Specialist, it's my second. I went for the first time last year. I'm just nervous. I hope they don't want to do anything terrible to me like shoot dye into my eye.

I just needed to get it out that I'm nervous about it. I don't want to lose my sight and this type is not fixable.

That's the kind that runs in my family as well. It's very scary to know that it's coming, and I'm sorry that it's coming on for you at such a young age. I hope it goes smoothly tomorrow at the specialist, and that they find no big changes from last year.

Thank you, that's what I'm hoping too.

I'm sorry! That us scary. Are you noticing changes? I worry about retinal tear. I have almost -10.00 prescription. They always check for signs but it seems to have leveled out. I'm 38.

Good luck!

*hugs*  Sending good juju your way.  I would be scared as well.  Does it help to find it early?

That is scary, but even though you're scared, you're doing the right thing and getting it checked out. I hope the testing goes smoothly and you get results quickly.
