Fleas & those other nasty bugs win walking the dogs/families in the woods or near tall grass?

Our state made a comment saying "beware of humans & dogs of ticks."

Yes we get ticks EVERY year SEVERAL times a year no matter what we do to!

I have had Lyme and my oldest DS has had Lyme and got Bell's palsy and Lyme Carditis from it which he has to be hospitalized for!

Lyme sucks!

My kids get maybe 1 a year each, but I've only found 2 attached between the three of them.

My dogs have never had a tick attach....well, not the two I have currently. I did have a dog when DH and I first got married that had 2 attach to him.

We had 2 ticks on my pup last week, and I have a friend going to the doc today with a bulls eye rash.

My cat is indoor only but I still put tick, flea, heartworm , parasite etc etc prescription prevention drops on her every month all year around. I don't want to take any chances!

When I was 23 I got Lymes Disease when I went canoing and I ended up hospitalized for weeks and then  bedridden at home afterwards for over a month.  At that time, Lymes was not well known here yet and they had to have specialists from the U.P. of Michigan come to treat me downstate Michigan. A well known local newsman on tv here got it the same time I did and he ended up permanantly disabled in wheelchair.

I am so lucky.. I was horribly ill and it was scary but somehow I got very very lucky and have no lasting issues now.  My 2 oldest kids who were little then were with me on that canoe trip and I always just think THANK GOODNESS it was me and not them!

Ticks freak me OUT!!!   lol  I always check myself when I'm outside.  Some of them are so small you can't see them!!  I always feel nasty too after finding one on me. lol

We spray the area to cut down on ticks.
