Short 15 cents

I went to the doctor and was sitting in the waiting room.  This guy was saying that with the plan he had to get for Obama care, it was a higher deductible before his insurance would kick in so he had to pay out of pocket for this doctor's visit.  The receptionist told him it was $115.  In my mind I was like "wow, that's a lot of money."  I definitely take for granted that my insurance covers it and I only have a $15 copay.  Well then he proceeded to take out this giant jar of bills and change.  I felt so awful.  They counted everything and he was .15 cents short.  I was going to run up there and give it to him but the guy behind him gave him a dollar.

It just broke my heart.  I hope the guy was able to get the care he needed and didn't need a follow up.  Have you ever wanted to jump in and help someone you don't know?

 That's AWFUL!

I have definitely gotten my change out when someone was a little short at the register. I know most of us would like to do more!

It's a terrible feeling to be short only a small amount.  I'm glad someone helped him.

Yes, I have jumped in and helped a stranger at times like that.

This is why we need universal healthcare. No-one should have to go without medical treatment because they can't afford it.

 It's so sad :(

DH and I can't afford insurance for ourselves. We have it on the kids...but to get for us (we had and had to cancel) was going to bump it up to right at $900 a month, and that was the cheapest we could find.....we'd have a crazy high deductible and even then we'd have to pay 80% of all visits and 100% of the prescriptions......why break ourselves up to get something we couldn't go to the doctor with anyway and then cheat the kids out of health care because we'd have had to drop them down to that same plan.

I'd rather they be taken care of anyway.

That's so sad.

I have helped out before.

I hate insurance. We had to get on state insurance BC we couldn't afford what dh's job was offering. We would have had to pay 1000$ a month plus 80% for doctors and 80% for Rx. Well, both my ds and I are type 1 diabetics. We both have to see a specialist every 3 months and between the 2 of us get 9 Rx every month! We wouldn't have any money for anything but medical needs. Its awful

That's terrible. I heard of many other horror stories with Obamacare. There are so many people that have lost their coverage, and from what I heard from my insurance, premiums and co-pays for everyone are really going up in the next couple of years-most are scheduled for after that next presidential election. Sad.
