Can you do 2 at once??

I dont remember if it was this group I posted my bank issues and someone.... many people suggested Dave Ramsey. Now I am just wondering can you do step 2 and step 1 at the same time? We have a CC that will go up in interest and we need to start making double payments now before we go into the hole worse than we are. I was just wondering if for 8 months we can do the $1,000 emergency funds as well as doubling up on payments?

I did several scenarios that it will work if we did both at the same time and still have more than enough to left over for everything else.

no clue about dave ramsey or any of that but if you have done some "scenarios" & you are able to do it & still have $$ for all your other monthly necessities why would you question doing it?

Yes. If you can do it. Don't strap yourself though.

Yes, you can!  The whole reason behind step 1 is to avoid making more of a mountain during step 2, which is why it is important.  Once step 2 is done, then on to a fully funded emergency fund.

DH and I decided to do things just a bit differently after the past 5 years of struggling to do it exactly Dave's way.  We upped our step 1 amount a LOT more than Dave recommends, only because our experience with emergencies is that they cost a lot more than $1K nowadays.  we just finished that step last week....now on to Step 2!

I am familiar with his system as we use it and have taken his Financial Peace clurse. I don't see why not in my opinion. It will help you get back on track in the long run.
