Eye patch update

Steph had an eye doctor appointment this morning.  There is no improvement in her vision, so the doctor said we need to increase patching to all day except 1 hour before bedtime.  Ugh.  It was difficult with her knowing what time it could come off, now, with very little off time, it is going to be HARD!

Which would be WONDERFUL.  Except that once the vision is fixed, she will ahve surgery to weaken the inside eye muscles to straighten the eye.  :(

Is this an older doc? That seems to be outdated practice.

My DD patches and my doctor says nothing more than 2 hours will make anymore diff and if could also harm the progress. I also did research on my own and found that to be a general idea.

He is older.  I'll look into this and bring it up at the next appointment.  Thanks for the info.

I'm so sorry, that must be so hard on her.  I hope she can hang in there!

I hope she tolerates it well and you see some results.

Aww I'm sorry!!  I hope you'll find a way to make it easier for her to deal with.  It's hard for kids to have to do something like that.  Hugs to you both  :)

She has no choice but to hang in there.  I had her repeat to me what the doctor said about how long it has to be on.  She knows, so hopefully, it will make it easier since she loves and trusts doctors.

So far she does ok, just asks when she can take it off.  Up to today, it was only 6 hours a day.  So essentially, we are giving her 1 hour a day off the patch.  I hope this does the trick, though.  I need to see some improvement.
