I was always making something or trying something..
Latch kits,Macrame, tried needlepoint (unfortunately bored me-All I wanted to do was make French knots-lol),When I was in 5th grade art teacher had us do a "junk art" project (these days it would be called a "Green Eco-Friendly recycled creation") and I think that's what really sparked my eye for constantly seeing "trash" as something you can create with.Tried knitting and crochet (with no luck),some clay work,a little painting (tried oils, wasn't that good)..etc etc...
What type of crafts did YOU do as a child????
~Heids
I'd rather be genuine with my faults and mistakes than "front" and be a contradiction....
May the good Lord bless your day.
I didn't really do crafts as a child. I think I made a few things out of macrame (sp?), but that would be about it. I was more into playing sports back then. My mom doesn't do crafts, but she did try to teach me how to cook and bake.
I did whatever I could get my hands on....pastel chalks were my favorite (so smooth), pencils, painting, and when someone bought me a craft kit...very happy...girl scouts taught me to color macaroni and make necklaces...camp...pot holders and friendship pins (remember those?)...art class in school I would do multiple projects -- usually whatever I wanted to do....and everyday during HS school, I gave my friends makeovers....and that was during the 80s, so you can imagine what they looked like....

I was addicted to making friendship pins...Plus in GS we made a "God's eye"-that thing you wrap yarn in a pattern round two sticks (to this day I still don't understand "why" it's called what it is),decorated cupcakes (I stacked mine with about 9" of icing-and ate all the icing-boy was I sick!!!
In middle school we had something called "interest groups" and that is where I learned macrame & cross stitch (and magic club was part of interest group too-lol),made a rainbow barette with ribbons in the one class, painted cookies, did some wood burning and shellaced a burnt edge card to a piece of wood (ah-the smell of burnt paper-lol)
PS-I graduated in '87 so I can just picture it!!! LOL

Latch hook rugs, needlepoint and cross-stitch, those pot holder things on that loom (remember those?), friendship pins (they got banned from gym class in my school b/c they would break if a ball fell on your shoe and scatter beads EVERWHERE! LOL). I made clothes for my dolls and stuffed animals, sock dolls,etc..... My BFF and I were ALWAYS making something. Our moms were always doing crafts so it rubbed off on us.
