There has been so much discussion in the Media about H1N1 that I thought we may want to have discussion here about it. Everyone has their own opinion about flu vaccinations, so feel free to post here.
Ladies,
I probably have a very different opinion about vaccinations completely, compared to the majority of everyone. I don't want to push my views onto anyone at all, nor make anyone feel thats what I am doing.
I did alot of researching about vaccinations while I was pregnant and I continue to read articles/ books...from resources I trust.
Personally I have chosen not to Vaccinate Carson whatsoever. Yes, I know that may be shocking.... Its a choice / decision I came to based on the Pros and Cons of Vaccinations. I decided the Cons outweighed the Pros for my Family.
My resources are as follows:
"Say No to Vaccines" by : Dr. Sherri Tenpenny
"Natural Baby and Childcare" by" Lauren Feder, M.D.
If you are interested in reading either of these books for educating yourself on the pros and Cons and making a decision for your family, Let me know! I own them both and would be happy to loan them out.
From what I have read about the H1N1 , it is the same as the flu...no worse. It is a way for the health industry to push another vaccinations ate the risk of side affects in order to climb the corporate ladder.....Huge amounts of money are made on vaccinations!
actually check this link http://drtenpenny.com/the_truth_about_the_flu_Shot.aspx
also

Jess,
First of all, I totally respect your decision so I hope I don't offend you with anything I say. Every parent has the right to decide what is best for their own child, so I applaud you on taking a stand in what you believe is right for your family.
I definitely believe in vaccinations. Maybe it's because Chase has CF and if he picks up the tiniest germ or bug it could kill him. My views might be different if I had a healthy child first. (By the way, I know CF isn't totally common and I'm always willing and open to talking about it, so if you ever have any questions feel free to ask. We are very open about Chase having it and he knows about it too, and we do lots of fundraisers to find a cure, so we are trying to make people more aware. You can also check out http://www.cff.org/AboutCF/). All my kids have had the regular vaccinations, as well as yearly flu shots. Jason and I also get flu shots every year, but only because Chase's CF doctor says it's vital in protecting Chase. If we could all get the H1N1 vaccine, I would be first in line. I'm having the hardest time finding the shot though. We can't get the mist because it carries the live version of it, and that could kill Chase. It's so scary to think that something as small as the flu or even a cold can turn into a life threatening infection for him. We are super cautious about where we go, especially in the winter months because Chase hasn't "colonized" anything bad yet, and we're trying to keep it that way. Bacteria that most of us carry in our lungs and doesn't affect us, if he gets it in his lungs it grows, he can't get it out, and it leads to deadly infections. We have never been to a Chuck E Cheese, my kids don't play on McDonalds (etc) playgrounds. Anywhere that I know breeds germs we avoid. I always have GermX with me and you will see me slathering it on their hands after they touch anything. I want Chase to lead a normal life, but in order to make sure he can, there are certain things we just must avoid. I am getting better with it as he gets older and doesn't put stuff in his mouth anymore, but those places just scare me because I know the germ factor.
Okay, enough of my rant! Jess, I have a question about not vaccinating. Will Carson be allowed to attend school? Just wondering because Chase had to have a vaccine certificate before he could be enrolled. It's just something I've always wondered.
Good thread topic! Interesting to see what everyone has to say!
Rachel.
Yes, Carson will be able to go to school based on a Religious exemption if that is the avenue I choose to go. I have also considered homeschooling him. So I will decide closer to when that descision needs to be made and depending on what the goverment is forcing on schools at that time.
The books i recommended above are very good. Its always good to know both side. Like what is in the vaccine they are putting in your child. Most of what the vaccine is made up of is worse for you than the actual disease/ illness itself.
Lauren Feder highlighted sections in her book " Natural Baby and childcare" :
-The Immune System
*Germ Theory
*Innate and Adaptive Immunity
*How vaccines Work
-Pros and Cons of Vaccinations
*Pros of Vaccination- supporters point to many of the following arguments as evidence that the benefits of vaccinations outweigh the risks.
-1. The Vaccination Program in the 20th century is hailed as one of the most considerable achievements in public health.
-2. Supporters of vaccines acknowledge that shots have potential side effects and risks, but maintain that they are rare occurences.
-3. Children who arenot immunized can raise the risk of infection for everyone else.
* Cons of Vaccinations- Listed below are the three major criticisms of the vaccination program in its current form.
-1. Like any medication, every vaccine has the risk of injury or death.
-2. Vaccination is different than natural immunity.
-3. Increased use of vaccines corresponds to a rise in chronic diseases among children.
-Standard Vaccinations
I would like to Highlight one agree from my bullet points up above:
2. Vaccination is different than normal Immunity. - Because vaccines grant an artificial immunity that is often temporary, many critics will not refer to them as immunizations at all. Unlike natural immunity, vaccines work by tricking the body into thinking it has been exposed to the real illness, which generates an immune response that is supposed to protect the child. Yet the natural routes of exposure ( through the mouth, nose, and intestine) via the innate immune system are bypassed and the bacteria or virus are injected directly into the bloodstream, triggering the adaptive immune system. The injections thus circumvent the body's natural defense mechanism and may cause a chronic imbalance in the immune system. Common Childhood illnesses help the immune system to mature and become stronger, making it more effective in dealing with the challenges from viruses and bacteria later in life. vaccinations don't offer lifetime immunity, and instead shift the illness to vulnerable adults who are susceptible to a more dangerous version of the disease. Chickenpox during adulthood, for instance, ia a risky disease, presenting far more complications than the childhood version. In addition, naturally-acquired illnesses usually occur one at a time. By giving shots that may contain 4 to 6 bacteria and viruses at once , we could be overstimulating the immune system. Could you imagine your child having diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough at the same time
3. Increased use of Vacccines corresponds to a rise in chronic diseases among children. With the number of available vaccines increasing in the last decades from eight to thirty, there is little doubt that our children are immunized with greater frequency and for a wider array of diseases. Critics to the vaccine program point out that as nutrition, hygiene and literacy improved, the severity and frequency of many of the devastating illnesses from the 19th Century were on the decline, even before the vaccinations were introduced. Nowadays, the childhood illneses of a bygone era like chickenpox and measles have given way to a host of chronic diseases and disabilities, which are increasing at epidemic proportions. Since the mid twentieth century, conditions affecting the brain and neurological diseases have quadrupled, learning disorders are up 1000 times, and allergies, asthma, and ear infections are now chronic childhood conditions. While studies have yet to definitively link vaccines to these more unusual illnesses, researchers are beginning to question the role of vaccines in neurocognitive disorders like autism Asperger's and attention deficit disorder (ADD) chronic conditions like asthma, and diseases like SIDS and Leukemia. Researchers suspect that the link between vaccines and some of these conditions may be due to the effects of the vaccines on infants whose immune systems and organs are immature and developing. Critics to mass vaccination point out there are no long term studies to determine the effects of vaccinations.
Please watch this...This was on fox news this Fall! I saw it aired.....
I knew there had to be a way for him to still attend school--glad to hear it! I didn't think the schools could not allow someone to attend based on a parent's decision (after all, you are the parent and have the right to decide!).
Hi Girls,
I too value both of your opinions with regards to vaccinations. I have chosen to get Tucker vaccinated. Anyway, I'm not going to go on about it, but I am always curious as to what people have decided to do, so I'm really glad you started this post Jessica.
court
I have chosen not to vaccinate against this as we've never taken the flu shot either. My husband, myself or our 3 children have never been vaccinated against the flu. My grandfather developed "Guillain Barre Syndrome" back in 1994 after receiving a flu shot. Two years later, as a result of the disease and other underlying health factors, he died. He was a strong man taken to the bed because of this devastating disease, all caused by a flu shot, he suffered, bedridden, for 2 years. So, I am just terrified of this new vaccine that they know nothing about.
I do vaccinate my children with the regular vaccines recommended by their pediatrician. However, my children are healthy enough that I feel they could fight off influenza. If any of them had health issues that would make them more suseptible to death by influenza, of course, I would have them vaccinated. I know that the flu shot probably carries the same risks as regular vaccines, but regular vaccines have been around much longer & I'm more comfortable with them. I do respect everyone else's opinion and decisions regarding vaccinating their children.
Hey mommies...this is a story ( one of many) from 2004 that was posted on my facebook, that I wanted to share with you. Its not tied to h1n1 but is is tied to vaccinations ( so same same).
Mother who wrote this is Angela Utley and her daughter is Athena. You can message her on facebook regarding questions.
After the New year I had miraculously been healed of Ovarian cancer. One doctor had said , "If I had not seen it I would never had believed it" . I thought they were playing a cruel joke on me when I was told everything was back to normal. "What do you mean ? That is not funny!" I gathered the emergency sheet around me and jumped to the ground with a start. I looked at the ultra sound results along with the doctor. The mass that had honey combed had mysteriously disappeared. I had a normal ovary again where before it had been squashed. God works in mysterious ways that I am at a loss to explain. How filled with joy I was at that time. Almost in dumbfound belief. Time passed.
February of 2004 came in with a bang. The cold wind seemed so strong that month. Always whipping around my home. Athena my infant had some issues with her lungs. She was recovered by February. I needed to catch her up on her vaccines. I wanted to make sure was "safe" like every good mother would. Had I known if my child was recently sick not to vaccinate. Had I known that thimerosal was still in the production of my child's vaccine. Life would have been normal. Had I known.
It was after Valentine's day when I caught Athena up on her vaccinations. I remember the smell and coldness of the sterile room. The nurse was of average height and weight. She had long dark brown hair like mine. "We do this every day" she repeated to me 3 times over my objections. I should of listened to my inner warnings that something was not right. 1, 2, 3 and 4 shots plunged into my daughter. She received 9 vaccines as I held my own flesh and blood down on the table. I cried along with her.
Her crying never stopped. I put her in the car-she was crying. I got her out of the car -she was crying. I had already given her pain /Tylenol meds. We were now in the home ~she was still crying. 30 mins later she is still crying. I call the nurse. The doctors were otherwise occupied having left the office already. It s 4:00. The nurse acts as if I had not given her anything and speaks down to me . She hangs up on me. My daughter is still crying.
With my daughter in my arms 30 mins later , still crying I call again. She sighs with a pained tone. "You need to give the meds time to work-all children are sore after having a vaccination. " She hangs up. I had told her the temperature was soaring and that she had been fine in the morning, before her shots. I change her diaper. Blood is in the diaper and not a small amount. I panic and call again. No answer or returned call. It is after hours now.
My daughter starts to shake. Her eyes roll back. I am not waiting for a return call . She stops shaking. I quickly put warm clothes on her and her coat. I grab my purse and diaper bag.
Running out the door the freezing wind whips around us. I secure her in the car and race to the closest hospital, St. Francis hospital.
I run into the emergency room like a mad woman. I tell the person in line that this cannot wait. My daughter starts shaking again in my arms. They usher us in to the triage area. Athena is quickly put into a room. She starts to shake again. Her oxygen drops. I tell them of the blood in the diaper, the vaccinations, that she had been fine that morning. I see a group of people start to surround my daughter. They are giving her oxygen. They try to start a iv. She is dehydrated. She had been vomiting off and on since before leaving home. Her diaper is removed . Blood is everywhere in my daughter's diaper. I can't breathe and feel so dizzy with worry.
I pray as if I have a knife to my throat or in my case a syringe. Praying to God, "that's my child God, MY CHILD GOD, save my child. At that moment my daughter's intestines are bleeding-that is why the blood is there ~a darker red than normal. She is having seizure after seizure at times bringing down her oxygen to a dangerous point. She is still crying out. They stabilize her and put her in a room in the pederatic wing. I am still repeating to god She's my child. Hear my voice God. Help my child. I felt so alone.
Athena goes through a battery of tests. She has cried through the night in my arms . We spent a lot of time in that rocking chair. She survived. There were so many doctors, teams of doctors. It was a choice between horrible virus or horrible vaccine reaction. the virus group won out. Her babbling stopped that day. Her muscle tone started to deteriorate. She is still my child I remind God. The feeling is indescribable when the fate of your child is in the balance. How would you have felt in my shoes?
This happened almost 6 years ago. Athena has worked so hard. Many prayers have been sent up for her. It was the Dtap vaccine that caused the majority of the damage. She still has seizures. The last one was at the state fair while she was on a child's rollercoaster. She had been labeled with Autism non verbal . She has been healed/recovered of autism. The doctor and many others say its hard to believe she is the same child. God is at work in my Athena . She is a emergent reader now .
I want you to remember that emotion you might have had when you read that Athena was on her way to the emergency room and in it. That moment. Now think of yourself at this point in your life or another point of quiet desperation. Think of God looking down on you saying "Thats my child, my child" trying to reach out to you. He loves you so. You are God's child ~it is that simple. Whether you be in the throws of a severe vaccine reaction or sitting on your couch thinking of your next move. He loves you and invites you into a conversation of love. Even when you push God away he is there trying to reach out to you.
I felt the need to share this tonight. For God loves you and you are not alone. Not even in the dark of the night. For you are his child.God says: Thats my child. You.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

DR.Sherri Tenpenny - Vaccines mean fewer drugs?? Vaccines save money?? Quite the opposite.Vaccines are relatively inexpensive. Daily pills can go on for years but only a few vaccine doses are given over a life time. Until recently vaccines were considered the poorest producing division. However, the Real Money for the pharaceutical industr...y (and the medical industry as whole) is when vaccines cause side effects:
>>FIRST Round of Money: Some vaccine adverse events, such as seizure disorders, Gullian barre syndrome, serum sickness, etc, require hospitalizations that can last weeks, even months.
>>SECOND Round of Money: The evaluations to look for the "cause" of a new health problem include multiple blood tests, endoscopies, CT scans, MRIs, spinal taps, nerve biopsies, nerve conduction tests, etc. Instead admitting the injection is the most likely cause, every other possible explanation is ruled out. And *even then*, the vaccine is rarely blamed. Would we do the same if a health problem developed after, say, a shot of penicillin?
>>THIRD Round of Money: -- And the real bonanza -- All the drugs given to treat ear infections, asthma, allergies, ADD/ADHD, seizure disorders, neuropathies, vasculitis, autoimmune reactions, inflammatory arthritis, retinal artery occlusions, nephrotic syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, insulin-dependent diabetes, and on and on and on. These conditions -- and many more -- have been reported in the medical literature as adverse events caused by vaccines.
It could be concluded that vaccination helps drive up costs and contributes to poor health, rather than saving money and keeping us healthy.
