Question about H1N1 vaccine

For those of you who have had the vaccine how long did they tell you it would take to start protecting?

I received my vaccine the 28th of October and I am having a baby shower November 7th. I have been so worried about contracting the swine flu and avoid public, but I am just worried about being around a bunch of people this Saturday.  It will be the 10th day after I received the vaccine and hopefully no one comes sick.

Thanks ladies!

My daughter and I both got the H1N1 vaccine on 10/28 as well.  Immunity after the shot takes 2-3 weeks.  Adults gain immunity more quickly in general, but I don't know how it works during pregnancy.  I would say that you have much better immunity than a person who hadn't had the shot, certainly.

I wouldn't skip your shower, but to be safe, ensure you avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, have hand sanitizer available for yourself and your guests and try to enjoy yourself.  Even the vaccine isn't 100% effective, so this is a good idea anyhow.  =0)

Enjoy!

Thanks.  I will be careful about not touching my face and such.  I would hate to get sick at 36 almost 37 weeks pregnant.

I was told 7-10 days after receiving it, it is effective!  It's now been almost 3 weeks since I got it

How did your shower go?  I hope it was a lot of fun, and of course, virus free!

It went really well. There were a couplfe of  family members that showed up with sick children but I just kept sanatizing my hands.  After everyone left I went crazy with the lysol...lol.  I did receive alot of wonderful gifts and overall had a good time.  Today I am super worn out and have to get this house back together.  Thanks for asking :-)
