Things are getting a bit stressfull the last month at work. They added more work to my load. But won't add any extra time to my shift to get it all done. In fall they hired a new Food and Beverage director. She seems nice enough. She decided us cashiers will have to count our money at the end of the day. Subtract 300$. That's our start up money for the following day. The difference goes in a envelope marked how much is in it. That is the deposit. We fill out a sheet daily accounting for our money each day. I need 1/2 hour some days to go through my money. Making sure it come out correct. A boss will do the reading on my register at some point. Will stick it in my section of the safes. It better match up to what I counted the day before. I get confused when I got to much money to count up. Handing out change is not bad. The computer says how much changed to give back. I can do that part fine. But when I have to count out my whole cash drawer. Separating start up money from what gets deposited. Sometimes doesn't add up right. I'm not stealing it. I have not been told since we cashiers count our money. That it don't match the register reading. I tried talking to the night boss. He says don't get confused. You should only have to go through it once. Math has not been my best subject. Our son now an adult. Suffered with ADD all through school. He couldn't stay on task. I think I can be a slight ADD. Well I can stay on task for the most part. Just some little things requiring more mental work take me longer to do. I almost left work in tears today. The immediate bosses think it's no big deal. I can handle the extra work load in the same amount of time I always had. I think I need to talk to the new Food and Beverage director. See if she is of any help. For the most part. I like cashiering. I like interacting with the customers. I was happier when the bosses counted our money. Even if they say the drawer was short. The surveilance camera is my witness I did not take any money.
It gets worse. My sister cut me out of her life. Because of my beliefs. She wants nothing to do with me. She cut me off her and her kids Facebook. Says I'm evil, cold, callous, uncaring and many other ugly words. I called a family friend who is retired nurse from a psychiatric hospital. We had a long talk. She said my sister is acting weird. She is cutting everyone out of her life that does not think or believe as she does. That I should not worry. This family friend says I'm a good person. So be it my beliefs are different. It doesn't make me bad person. This has me all torn mentally. Our parents are deceased. I have no family who wants to be in my life. It hurts me mentally.
I'm sorry..
We all have different beliefs and your sister should realize that you are still her sister.
I pray things get better..:) huge hugs!!
I completely understand and honestly, for your boss to tell you it should only take you one time to count it all, hes crazy! Im a waitress and dealing with money is hard esp if the money is wrong at the end of the night because your the first person to blame. Im sorry they only give you a small amount of time to get everything done but if it takes you a bit longer they should really understand. They are adding more work to your load and you want to do a good and efficient job. I always take my time and count everything AT LEAST twice, sometime more. Just keep doing it until your comfortable with your out come. This is also something new so it's going to take some time to get used to but Im sure you'll get the hang of it sooner or later. I hope I have helped a little bit , good luck.
I'm getting better at it. Well I use paper clips to group the paper money in groups of 100$. Change is in the changer box. I just read the number on the line above the last coin in each slot. Unopened coins are in the rolls. I like to go through the money slow. The new bills tend to stick together. I like to ruffle them up. Thing is. They won't add any time to my shift. To include time to count money. Then finish the closing down cleaning.
I used a sheet that had the separate bill amounts on it, then coin amounts and would add those up with a calculator. Counting the till out was cut in half.
For example 100 ($20s) 60 ($10s) ect...
It's getting better. Just the bosses tend to rush me. When I can take my time and go through my money carefully. It comes out right.
