My favirute is The Belgariad Series by David Eddings.  The first book is called Pawn of Prophecy.  It is an epic tale of a young farmboy who is desitined to rule over all the contries in the land and defeat the evil god.  Along with him is a sly prince, a wizard, a sorceres, a magestic knight, and a barbarian.  The story tells of their travels al over the world to get the orb of power to keep it from the evil god and return it to it's rightful place.

PS-Don't get discuraged from the first chapter in each book.  They are only a little snippet of the world's history so you understadn what is to follow.  The whole series isn't written like the bible don't worry lol

Aww, thanks for the acknowlegdement!!lol....anyway, I suggest the DragonLance Series..by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hicks(I think that's her name, I forget it most of the time). It's about a group of friends( Twins, named Raistlin & Caramon, their half-sister Kitara, her ex-lover, a half elf named tanis, a dwarf named Flint & a Kinder named Tasslehoff Burrfoot) Raistlin is a wizard & his brother a fighter, the latter large & burly, the first small & sickly. Each fights their own inner battle trying to send the dark queen & her dragons back to the underworld... I highly suggest this series, but start from the beginning in the twins' childhood!!!

I recommend the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett and the DragonCrown Cycle by Michael Stackpole.  Pratchett does more parodies in a fantasy setting rather than traditional fantasy.  It's especially funny if you've done paper and pencil RPGs and stuff.  Stackpole does traditional fantasy and he's a master at it.  :-)

I love the DragonLance Books. They are very interesting.
One Series I found and really enjoyed was The Kingdom of Thorn and Bone Books by Greg Keyes. There are four books total but as of right now there are only three out, I have read all three and they are wonderful. Very intriguing and full of fantasy.

I LOVE the Mithgar series by Dennis L. McKiernan.  There are multiple books in this series and it is a world with elves, warrows(hobbits), dwarves, dragons etc... The first book to start with is Dragonstone.  McKiernan is an awesome writer and just sucks you in!

Also, for those vampire lovers (I am once hence my name kyuketsuki :p means vampire in japanese) I suggest a few books that I really like ASIDE from the Anne Rice novels.

The Night World Series by L.. J. Smith- The first book is called Secret Vampire. This one is the traditonal vampure that hates what he is and falls in love with a mortal who finds out what he is ect. Together they bring down an evil vampire and the like. The others have similar themes.

The Vampire Diaries Series by L.J. Smith- The first is called The Awakening. Very similar theme as Secret Vampire but warewolves are thrown into the mix. Kinda fun read.

Secret Compantions by Vivian Vande Velde-A teenage girl is taken hostage by a vampire and dragged all over the place in his attempts to escape religious actavists. As they spend more and more time together she falls for him and eventually saves his life. It's a cute little story. Vivian Vande Velda is also my favorite author( I even met her once!!)

And those are the vampire books I reccomend :)

I read these in HS.  I loved them.  They are great for younger readers who like Vamp novles since they don't have sex scenes like some.
This same author has a series about a coven of teen witches which was good too.
