BOONTON - Kashif Parvaiz has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his wife, Nazish Noorani, on Tuesday, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.

A second suspect, Antoinette Stephen, has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in Boston and also been charged with murder, the prosecutor's office said.

Details of the shooting were revealed by Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi at a press conference today.

"Within hours of the crime, it was obvious to investigators that this was sadly the alleged handiwork of the victim's husband who allegedly did the unthinkable and plotted to murder his wife," Bianchi said.

Noorani, whose funeral is this afternoon, was shot four times and killed instantly as she and Parvaiz pushed their 3-year-old son up Cedar Street in a stroller. The couple also has a 5-year-old, who was not present when the shooting took place.

Parvaiz is in stable condition, according to his father. The boy was unhurt.

According to Bianchi, Parvaiz conspired with Stephen, a friend he had known when they lived in Brooklyn, to have his wife killed due to issues in their six-year marriage. Parvaiz told investigators he was upset that Noorani had spoken negatively about his family.

The prosecutor also said that Parvaiz had conflicting accounts of what had happened on Tuesday night. He originally told authorities he and his wife were shot by one white male, one black male and a third unknown male who had shouted racial epithets and called them "terrorists." He later changed his story to say there were three black males.

Later, he would tell police that the shooting was an accident, before finally owning up to his involvement in the shooting.

In his confession, Parvaiz told Capt. Jeffrey Paul of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office that he did not want to be the person to look at his children and tell them he took their mother away.
