today is national homemade bread day..i made mine over the weekend..this is homemade pumpkin bread...and yes i cut the pumpkin and cooked it..lots of work..but so worth it..
Whole Wheat Pecan Bread
2 cups whole wheat flour
object2=">1 cup all-purpose flour
object2=">1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
object2=">1/2 cup sugar
object2=">1 teaspoon salt
object2=">1 teaspoon baking soda
object2=">1 1/2 cups milk
object2=">1/2 cup molasses
Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl; make a well in center of mixture.
Dissolve baking soda in milk; stir in molasses. Add to flour mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Spoon into a greased and floured 9- x 5-inch loafpan.
Bake at 325° for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pan, and cool on a wire rack.
This one is the traditional way with kneading and letting the dough rise twice.
This one is really good toasted and served plain or as I like it with a bit of honey.
