As much as we parents want our kids active, we all did the sleep all day thing at least once ourselves.  Of course you can always get an alarm clock and tell her she has to get up when the alarm goes off and be active, from helping around the house and being active outside.....just doesn't mean it'll work =)

That's why I stick mine in camp.  He's out of the house from 7:30 to 4:30 every day.  It's kind of pricey but it keeps him busy.

That sounds about normal for a teen. Sleeping all day that is. Does she do anything when she wakes up?

Thanks, I just feel like I am crazy sometimes.  I know sleeping all day is not really a bad thing.  I will try not to dwell on it.

It's just a typical teenage summer phase.  When I got my first computer I'd stay up till 3-4am then sleep till about 2-3pm.  One day though my mom said she was sick of seeing me laying around the house doing nothing....I went out for a few hours and came home with a job at Wilson Farms and finally did something.

But when I was your daughters age, my mom came upstairs with a video camera recording me....it embarassed me enough to get my butt out of bed, and I had AWEFUL bed head.  Still have that recording, lol.

I've heard the same from doctors. That it is natural for teens to sleep alot sometimes and it is not them being lazy. Sometimes it takes an adjustment in their diet or pre-bedtime routine to get them to change their hours. Well my 14 yr old is odd. She gets up at 6 am everyday, even on weekends when I'm the one who wants to sleep if we are not going out. lol

I'm not from New York, but I have to comment I am going through the same thing! My daughter is 12 and has stopped doing anything. All she wants to do is sit on the computer, watch tv, or sleep. She has been doing a little reading but hates doing anything physical. She is worring me she is becoming one of those sullen teenage girls.

Thats pretty normal teen behavior. I think most people did that at that age.
