Kindle Question

I asked Mike to get my a Kindle Fire for Valentine's day (never thinking he would) well he almost did. He got me a regular Kindle. Can anyone tell me about the Kindle, What I can and can't do with it. Is it color? Can I upload magazines to it? I don't really need all the movies and apps for the Fire. I don't want to open it if its not what I want.

I don't think the Kindle is in color...if I'm not mistaken only the Kindle Fire has color.

You should be able to upload any content that Amazon has available for their e-reader. Amazon also has the Cloud Reader which also allows you to read your purchases on your computer...no Kindle required.

I dont think it is color.. I think it is like the basic Nook like hubby has- reading only no apps no mag's.

We also have the nook color-- which I would recommend ONLY if you dont want an IPAD.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my IPAD and think it is the COOLEST thing ever since hubby got me my own in November. (Did I say My own... I'm sorry, the one I share with Sam so hubby didnt have to share his!!! LOL)

Do I have to go thru Amazon to download books? Or is there somewhere else I can get them also besides my library.

 Garrett has a basic black and white nook, no color nothing fancy, no keyboard even. It was a wonderful gift from his Godmother for Christmas.

John bought the family a Kindle Fire yesterday.... for us to use during the drive for vacation etc.... I can actually download my Disney downloads for the fire, along with angry birds for Alex, Cut the rope for Alex and I Don't have to truck 10 books with me on vacation.....
