King Arthur: Life Skills baking

Posted by   + Show Post

So, our Middle school 7th graders participate in a King Arthur Life Skills thing, where they bake 2 loaves of bread. One for their family, the second goes to school where it gets donated to a food pantry.

Garrett brought home the materials, and the baked loaf needs to be back to school by next Tuesday.

Ok, where am I going to fit this in?

Materials come home today (PTA even bought bread pans!), the rest of the supplies are "free" (flour and yeast), I am pretty sure I have to look for an item or two.

Looked at the directions while I was "cooking" chicken patties at 8:30pm.... and

Alert: This project will require approx 3.5 hrs.

Where the flip am I going to find 3.5 hours?

It is so tempting to go out and buy some of my Rhodes Frozen bread dough that i use at the holiday's in place of rolls. That takes a good 8 hrs or so to defrost and raise, but I can at least leave the HOUSE... lol

3.5 hours of your preceious time is worth it! OR even stop and shops 2 for 99 cents each loaves... sssshhhh (and it is pre sliced!) garrett went the extra mile and sliced it.. and soooo evenly.. no one will know. LOL...
I wish you were closer. You KNOW I would bake for you!

...and I would so let you, heck I'd even leave Garrett so he can have the experience.

I don't let that leak out too often. The stories I could share with people goofing up my age, could cause quite the laughter.
