I think I offically Hate the NYC school system.. Well I think just my daughters school in general. First off it took me 10 calls to the school and 14 to the board of education just to get her a seat in their Kindgeraten program.... and now they mess up her class.
My daughter is a English speaking student. And what happens?? They put her in a Spanish Speaking class. Jade doesnt know a word of what the teacher says or what the students are saying. I went up to the school today because of it but they told me I have to write a letter to the Assistant principal and She will have to see what they can do because they arent moving around sudents yet.Ugh.. they also said I dont know why whoever assigned your daughter to the class didnt pay attention to her folder. It says She is English Speaking Only. *They put her in the class because her last name is a spanish last name* We try and teach Jade spanish so she can learn with the other kids but the teacher speaks it so fast, We have no idea what she is saying.
ugh!!!
OMg yet another reason I hate Public schools YIKES! sorry moma
If it's their error, they should be moving her as quickly as possible. She's not understanding the teacher and the other kids...how is she supposed to learn or interact with others?
That's ridiculous. You need to start making a fuss.
I agree with Liz.... Squeaky wheels get the oil.... start squeaking and LOUD!
And id certainly make a fuss daily till the movved her. She isn't learning anything in that class and its their mistake.
Good luck
I don't understand why they can't move her immediately. That's horrible. I hope you soo get resolution.
I'm a teacher in a public school in upstate NY and this sort of situation makes me so sad and frustrated. Sad that you and your daughter have to deal with this complete bullshit, but also that there is such a disparity among schools in the same state. This sort of situation would NEVER happen in the schools up here. And I don't mean it would be rectified more quickly. I mean it literally wouldn't occur in the first place. Seriously. And it's not that our schools up here are perfect, but that sort of egregious oversights just don't happen. And I hate that some kids have the privilege of not dealing with these sorts of issues and some kids (like your poor dd) do have to deal. Sitting in a classroom at age 5 where you don't understand a word of what's being said and they're just not doing anything yet? It's totally unacceptable for you and it gives all public schools a bad name.
I hope you get some answers and action quickly.
