is it me or is it getting harder and harder to find work in new york?

I lost my job about 10 months ago and for a while I thought being a stay at home mom was for the best. dont get me wrong... staying home had its benefits but now im ready to work. ive been searching for about 7 months now and I still havent found anything. is it the economy or is it just that hard to get back into the working life??? does anyone know who's hiring?

where in NY?  i see new postings for jobs EVERYDAY.

my friend is a headhunter in NYC and she gets at least 50-100 listings a day.  the latest is an EA with a starting salary of $80K with yearly bonus to tip over six figures.  those are typical job listings for her.

I live in the bronx. I've sent my resume out to almost anything and had yet to receive any call backs

If you drive, ridge hill, the new shopping mall in yonkers has a ton of places hiring.
Have you tried super markets? They pay fair, yearly raises, ins if your full time, they get a bad rap but its not a bad job at all.

What are your skills? What was your previous job? I'd look in that direction. One thing I can and will say is don't sell yourself short.
