That's what Naiya asked me the other day.
Why?
On Thursday, I delivered cupcakes to Naiya's class for the monthly bday celebration. One of Naiya's friends said that she and I don't look anything alike and she asked Naiya if I adopted her.
I can't wait to check this little girl out today at Naiya's bday party.
Naiya didn't seem too affected by the comment. She was just curious. I don't know if the teacher had heard the question because Naiya said that after the girl asked the question the teacher read a book called "It's good to be different" (or something like that).
kids.....
johnny will get asked that as well. people presume I am his stepmom
My answer to Sam would have been:
No honey, If we had adopted you, we would have returned you by now... you are such a handful! LOL
I think she DOES look like you though... I def. see traces of you in her smile, etc...
We tried to crash the karate party, but we missed it! LOL

I remember when I was in school kids always asked if my mom was my babysitter, if I was adopted or if my mom was my grandmother lol. My mom was white and 50 when I started school. It didn't bother me I just that much I just thought it was funny.
Awe! Poor Naiya. I can see the question being innocent enough from a child of that age.
