i took this from local news for long island

Sadly, on Long Island, families are now visiting Family Service League centers in droves looking for holiday toys. The increased need is a direct result of super storm Sandy. Children are writing lists for Santa while their parents are feeling helpless. Family Service League would like to ask the public for help with toy donations in order to fill this void. NEW, unwrapped toys (and clothing) can be dropped off at designated locations. (Please find the drop-off list below.)

The crisis intervention counselors at Family Service League are also finding an elevated level of stress among some of their clients due to a combination of factors - the devastating effects of Sandy, the upcoming holidays, unemployment, and the state of the economy. They are feeling the weight of the world on their shoulders. Counselors can offer important coping tips, and discuss where people can turn for help during this difficult time.
