Hey ladies, I am looking for a good pediatric neurologist. The Pediatricians recommended on from Colombia Presbyterian and I wasn't impressed. Any recommendations? Bronx/Manhattan only, thanks.

In the Bronx, there is Montefiore's Children Hospital.

The Kennedy Center has a wonderful reputation but I am still on the waiting list there and will be paying out of pocket. I'm seeking one with either a sliding scale or one that takes health insurance. Thank you for responding.

Can I ask what you need the neurologist for?

Sure, ds has an SLI classification and during his iep meeting it was recommended that he see a neuro for further testing since doe can not give a diagnosis.

Gotcha.. And a developmental pediatrician covered by your insurance may have a recommendation for a neuro. We used NY Presby but up at the old Cornell Weil In White Plains as well as a neurologist out of sleepy Hollow, but Im in Westchester, so I know Im no real help for recommendations,,. :( wishing you tons of luck. Does your son have a good SLP? Perhaps they can recommend?

He recommended I try a Neuro in NYU and the next appointment is in the summer. I want to have something lined up, just in case it doesn't work out (I'm a skeptic). My eldest has a Cornell Specialist and all my ds's except for my first were born in Cornell, I don't know why I haven't thought of reaching out to their neurologist team.

1 mom liked this

I vote for one affiliated with a teaching hospital. And could you find a nurse you could ask who she'd take her child to see? Nurses know nurses and boy, do we know drs... A few phone calls might find you a good, child friendly one.

ps. ETA or "he :-)"

My son got lucky, but we are in Syracuse.
We had a wait for the developmental pediatrician/pediatric neurologist (same guy here) for a year. ONLY got in when we did because I called EVERY Monday looking for a cancelation.
