There is my DH and I was active duty Army. My little brother was active duty army and is looking to go back in after the first of the year. My father was Army. My two uncles (maternal) were Army. My two great uncles (grandmother's brothers) were active duty Army, and one of their sons is currently AD Army.

On my DH's side his uncle was Army, his grandfather was Army. All 6 of his grandfather's brothers were active duty (all Army except 1 Navy man) at the same time and fought on shores from Germany to Japan. There was actually a news article published about the 7 brothers last week as they dedicated a memorial to the family and flew a flag in their honor over another memorial in their hometown.

How crazy is this: dh has had a family member in every armed conflict since before the Revolutionary War (of course, they are including the militia's that were the protection for the townships). I think it's pretty cool that his family his so dedicated and has served with such pride =]

It really is...All of the brothers have since passed away. The last in 1997, so none of them were present. My husband's grandmother and his dad and uncle were there. Some of the other brother's children were there. It would have been great if my husband could have been there for it but they mailed him a hardcopy of the newspaper article and photos.

I think that is so wonderful. It's unfortunate that it was posthumous & that your dh couldn't be there but that is so special & a tremendous honor for your family.

Very much so, and DH is very proud of it. We are hoping that he (or we if possible) can go see the memorial in person during his post-deployment block leave early next year. It will be great for his grandmother and him to go to it together.
