Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis.... After sitting in the emergency room for 10 1/2 hours yesterday cause he couldn't walk on his left leg, after 5 blood tests, finding fluid in his knee, x-rays, an ultrasound, and being transferred to a pediatric ER the pediatrician said there's nothing more they could do for him except give him Naproxim (children's Aleve) and told us to follow up with his PCM. She said  his PCM will most likely refer us to a rheumatologist. If he's diagnosed with JRA, this is something he will have for the rest of his life. :(

Hang in there! It can be tough when a child is diagnosed with a chonic illness. My oldest was diagnosed with type 1 or insulin dependant diabetes a little over 3 years ago. When he was diagnosed, I thought that my world was crashing down on me at that moment. Then, after we learned to deal with it and how to cope with it....life became normal again. If your child has RA then life will be chaotic at first and eventually everyone will adjust and it will become "normal" for you.

Wow, that must seem scary at first! Like Susan said, once you inform yourself on everything, it will get easier. Keep us updated!

Awww...poor guy.  :(  Hopefully it isn't that. I have a son that we suspected JRA with for awhile, but he never had enough of the official qualifiers that would allow him to be diagnosed.  You have to have 2 or more joints affected and we have really only had issues with one.

Push for that referral to the rheumatologist.  It is a relief to have answers even if they aren't always the ones you want to hear.
