As some of us know its hard to go through a pregnancy alone but its even harder to give birth alone. When I was pregnant with my DS I found a great program that is open to pregnant spouses or service members that had no one to support them through delivery. Its called Operation Special Delivery. The program provides trained doulas (who volunteer their time and service) to the pregnant women during delivery. I had a great doula when I was at Camp Lejeune and would recommend the program. You can sign up on their website and they will connect you with a doula in your area.
I found out about the program from a poster that was hanging in Labor and Delivery at the Naval hospital. I looked into and the doula I had was great.
Quoting ArmyWifey4907:That sounds like a great program, I wish I would've known about it the first time around. This time though we're lucky, the baby is due about 1.5 months before DH is set to deploy.
I am due any day now with baby #2 and have a doula through that program since DH has been deployed since July. She is wonderful and I'm so glad to have that support during labor and delivery. I do not have any family near where we are stationed. My MIL flew out so she can stay with our 2 yr old while I'm in the hospital. DH is coming home on R&R soon so crossing my fingers he makes it for the birth. Either way I know my doula will be a huge help and support. My friend had one through the program and found it incredibly helpful.

I remember hearing about this from some other group. I like what they do, just so glad I wont have to use it.... crossing my fingers they don't decide to send him to school a month before im due.
