hey ladies! :D im totally new to military life! i would really apprecitate some advice! lol! i just joined cafemoms too! lol! my marine is deploying in june too...so i would really really aprecitate advice. ;) thank you! ps. i have a 15 month old :)
yeah im kinda new too..ive been married to my soldier a year on march 3. but my last 2 boyfriends were in the army. i kinda know whats going on. alot of patience. and dont expect to make a plans set in stone. alot of last minute things. and ur life kinda revolves around his job. the military is a lifestyle. but as long as u love ur soldier and ur understanding, it will be ok. start getting used to the idea that he will be gone and this is kinda ur training for deployment. my hubby leaves in august. our baby is due in october. i have to accept the idea that he could miss it. thats part of being in that lifestyle.![]()
Hey There~
Welcome to the group :) We have a great number of ladies here who all have wonderful advice to offer. and are always here to chat with, vent to, or ask questions to.
Hmm Patience.. You'll need alot of that. . Communication!!! (With you husband that is lol)... Concentrating on keeping your marriage Strong! Don't let others interfere with it. There are alot of drama driven people out there that try to cause problems. Pick your friends carefully and loose the ones that try causing drama.
Check out local groups or resources on your local base- sign up for Skype (it's free and you can talk to anyone in the world for free anytime) - try to find a mommy group near you or if you are in the middle of nowhere like I am lol, try to go to the local "kid spots" on base and make some adult friends with people who also have kids :-) It really helps to have a support network- either friends and family who can visit or local groups or even just signing your little one up for some activity group where you and she/he can get out of the house and interact with other moms and babies :-) Feel free to ask about anything :-) :-) :-)
Welcome to the group and the site. This group is wonderful, with so many helpful, supportive people. I agree with the previous posters on keeping communication open with your husband. Mine is currently deployed, and we talk about everything, as if he were here. I believe it helps your relationship substantially to be open about your feelings with your spouse. Anyways, I have two kids, my daughter is 3, my son is one and a half.
Welcome! I have been married for over 11 years to a career soldier and after 5 deployments all I can give you is ... never make plans, be supportive, and get involved (just watch who you get involved with) FRG's can be a great support system and very informative, then again some of them can be horrible so go into it open minded and decide for yourself. On every post they offer AFTB Training (Army Family Team Building) and it explains the in's and out's of this life. Good Luck!!
Welcome to the group and Welcome to the "family" :)
My advice: If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask!
