Where can I find this info?

Hey ladies!   I was looking at the Go Army site and also some others, but didn't see an answer to this...

Is a history of taking mood-altering drugs really diqualifying for entrance into the Army and if so, does Ritalin count?  It's not really mood-altering per se, (at least it doesn't work that way for me, just helps me focus) but I heard it does count.  Anyone know the answer or where I might find it?

Here's something I found, at least it had a directive attached to it-

DOD Directive E1.28.2. Personality (301), Conduct (312), or Behavior (313) Disorders. Where it is evident by history, interview, or psychological testing that the degree of immaturity, instability, personality inadequacy, impulsiveness, or dependency will seriously interfere with adjustment in the Armed Forces as demonstrated by repeated inability to maintain reasonable adjustment in school, with employers and fellow workers, and other social groups. ...

  • E1.298.4. Specific Academic Skills Defects. Chronic history of academic skills (314) or perceptual defects (315), secondary to organic or functional mental disorders that interfere with work or school after age 12. Current use of medication to improve or maintain academic skills."

I would call a recruiter to get the info.  They know the most about it and will be able to get you the correct information. But I think DH said that the person had to be off of it for a certain amount of time.  I'm not sure so don't quote me on that. But I'd ask a local recruiter just to make sure

I agree with the people who said to contact your local recruiter.  Just give them a call and ask.  It's part of their job to know, and if they dont know they will find out for you!

We just got off recruiting duty and DH said you have to be completely off the meds for 12 months before you can join and then you still have to get a waiver depending on when  you last took it.
