What can you do to get rid of door-to-door sales?? Do I need to buy a large, vicious dog and keep him on the front porch so people can't even reach the doorbell? Last month we had 3 diff meat guys- from the same company- in 4 days, 2 churches, 1 real estate guy and 3 kids come by. Sometimes I don't even answer the door (horrible, I know). I am thinking of putting up a sign that says "We are vegans, we have a church and we are NOT moving. We will NOT be buying anything sold out of a magazine or the back of a vehicle, even from a cute kid. Ring the doorbell and attempt to sway us on any of this and a swarm of angry bees will attack. Have a nice day." My husband thinks it may be a bit much though :P

I put a "please knock" on the doorbell so they don't wake napping children and a peep hole. I never answer and I definitely don't feel bad.

 This!  You can get them at most office supply stores!  It is annoying though.  I get meat salesmen all the time!

 I think it's against the law if they still solicit.  You should tell them that, even if it's not and maybe they'll leave your house alone!!

I am in NC and there was a group in our area that was selling newspapers door to door. If you didnt answer they figured you were werent home and would try to break it. One lady on my block didnt answer and they tried kicking her door down while she was inside. A neighbor saw this and chased after them but they got away. I got a glass storm door (dont have a peep hole) and always answer the door with my german shepherd next to me. She has a pretty smile with her big white teeth to show everyone that comes to the door.

I never answer my door, and i don't feel bad about it. If they happen to catch me outside I tell them politely I'm not interested and go in my house. And thankfully we don't have a door bell.

I put up a no solicting sign on my daughter's window (it faced the front of the house) that also said "Violators will be reported to the police" Now that I live in government housing, I put up a sign that says "IAW AR 610-7, Solicators will be reported" AR 610-7 is a regulation that prohibits anyone from solicting on post)

They would be VERY sorry if they ever tried that here. I would open the door with a camera (to get their pictures for the police) and a big glass of milk... :D
