Abbreviation HELP PLEASE!

Soooo I am new to all this...can ANYONE please help me with the DH, POC, etc etc abbreviations...anything you think I will see over and over just help me out a little. Im only 25 so I am not sure why IM not up on that info lol...well I guess Im gonna go feel lame time I find out what all these things mean because I am completly lost reading most posts! THANK YOU

Poc = point of contact, dh= dear husband. Dd= dear daughter ect.

Some Common Abbreviations


WRITING IN ALL CAPITALS - SHOUTING

BUMP - Bring Up My Post!  When someone posts "bump" in a reply to a post, they are bringing the whole thread to the top of the group so more people will see it.  The posts on the group are in order of when the last reply was added.

AC = Adopted Child
AF = Aunt Flo
AP= Attachment Parenting
ATM = At the Moment
AYT = Are You There
BBL = Be Back Later
BF = Boy Friend (also sometimes best friend, breast-feeding or breakfast, depending on context!!)
BFN = Big Fat Negative
BFP = Big Fat Positive
BIL = Brother-In-Law
BL = Belly Laugh
BRB = Be Right Back
BTW = By The Way
 
CIO = Crying It Out
CM = CafeMom
CYL = Catch Ya' Later
DD = Dearest Daughter, Darling Daughter, etc
DF = Dear/Darling Fiance'
DH = Dear Hubby (Or Husband), Darling Hubby, Darn Hubby, Dumb Hubby, etc

DS = Dearest Son, Darling Son, etc (can also mean Direct Sales)

FC = Foster Child

FWIW = For What It's Worth
GF = Girl Friend

And since this is a military group, some of the common abbrev can also have military meaning...

 

AF/USAF = Air Force

AC = Active Component (regular active duty vs reserve/national guard)

also...

USAR = Army Reserve

NG = National Guard

USN = Navy

There should probably be a list of military acronyms here, too - it could be very helpful to those who are new to service life.

I bumped the post with the branch acronyms. I couldn't find an Army one though.

Some other military ones are POA - power of attorney, PCS - perm. change of station / transferring, TAD or TDY (depending on your branch of service) temporary duty.
