First time Deployment

My son is in the Army and he was deployed to Iraq . This is his first deployment and I haven't heard from him yet. I am really having trouble dealing with this. Will they let the contact their families, I just wanna know everything is Ok and hear his voice.

My husband was deployed to Afghanistand and it took them 4 days to get there. He probably hasnt arrived yet.

It takes awhile to hear from them. You may want to remove the date he left though from your post.

It may take a few days or weeks to get settled in and adjusted to the time difference, work schedule, and job. Hang in there.

when my hubby left I didnt hear from him the first few days but then called when he got there to let me know.

It may take a little while.  I have just received very short emails and my dh left a little before your son.  There were some ugly sand storms moving through so that could affect his ability to communicate depending on where he is ;o)

Yeah mine left around that time too different destination but ended up have an 18 hour delay/layover.  It does take them awhile to settle in all will get better once they have their schedules more set.
