When Dh finds out when he gets stationed, how does it work with Family (wife and kids) get moved in and sent to where ever he is stationed? Im just curious on how it works, whether we get our own flight and tickets or pack our selves. Just any help would be nice:) Thanks ladies:)

Idk how army works but AF, after tech training they go home for two weeks, at that point you can do a move to the new station. I have seen people do many different ways. The most common was to have mil member get set up and then move the family. But this was 7 years ago, sure things have changed a little.

When my husband was in AIT he got me a power of attorney. I called the JPPSO/transportation office closest to where I lived which was Fort Jackson (I lived in Charlotte, NC at the time). They came did a walk through looked at all our stuff then set up a time to come and pack everything and transport it here to Fort Carson. I did our housing application online through Balfour Beatty Communities faxed them our DEERS information and my power of attorney and got offered a house before I even got to Fort Carson. If you don't have a power of attorney though you can't do any of these things on your own. They will most likely have him set up the moving portion at AIT if you have no power of attorney and he will have to do your housing as well.

When my husband reenlisted and reclassed my son and I knew where we were going so when he graduated we went and looked for houses. He got a 10 day dity move and we went back home and we packed up and moved down here.

Usually my DH goes to the office and makes all our travel arrangements.  We usually pack out them take 30 days of leave in route....so often we have the NAVY fly us from our last day of vacation....if it does not cost them any more they will.  FOR EXAPMLE.  WE were in SD then went to LA for vacation then the NAVY flew us to HAWAII.  WE were in HAWAII the NAVY flew us to CA then to OHIO then we drove to MD and the NAVY paid for the cost of getting us to MD from Hawaii we paid the difference......it is crazy but you USED to be able to do it this way.

DH in processed at his first duty station and part of that is TMO. He set up a date for the mocha to cone park up our house. Once the house was packed, DD and I drove to out to our duty station. We were in temporary lodging for just a couple days before DH signed for housing. We stayed on air mattresses for a few days to our household foods arrived.

If housing is not available, you cam get 10 days TLE reimbursed and his unit will likely fine him 10 days permissive TDY for house hunting purposes.

That hasn't changed one bit.. or else it was the same 2 years ago. My husband has accompanied orders to England. They're going to pack our stuff and move it for us. As for split families (ie one is in the US and the other in Korea), I"m not so sure. I think everybody was packed and moved in Minot. My family is having our tickets paid for (2 and 1/2 of us). Good luck!

This ^^ My hubby worked in TMO so it went really smooth for us, and we didn't drive out to CA until housing had a house ready for us on base, but that was only a month after he got there!

I didnt know this but the first time we moved we were supposed to get ten days of finding an apartment time with him not going to work instead we ended up rushing and finding a place we hated and paid wayy too much for. We moved agian after our cermony wedding since our lease was up and we moved to the other side of the lake. We did get reimbursted for the hotels but not the food (so i dont think). I dont know how it is going to be when we do move weve got wayyy to much crap and i dont want to pack it up

Once he finds out where his duty assignment will be, he will go to transportation an set up the move. All you have to do is be home when the movers get there. With housing, some bases let you fill out the application prior to getting there and all you do is fax them a copy of his orders. Like I said that various from base to base.
