State capital building flying flags at 1/2 staff for Whitney...
Something reserved for military and those in the government....
What do you think about this?

Seems wrong to me. It isn't like we have flown the flag at half staff for every military member who has lost their lives since the war began!

Ridiculous... I mean I get it, it's a sad day for a lot of people, but the flags should NOT be lowered to half staff.

Why? What is their reasoning for this? I'd like to hear anything resembling a legitimate argument.

That seems incredibly degrading and belittling to anyone for whom the flag has been lowered.

I don't see it as wrong. There is no law against it and evidently, Whitney had made many philanthropic and charitable contributions, including many that were political and that supported the military.

... and to be fair, NJ gov also orders half mast to honor the loss of NJ service members.

So - we should fly flags half staffed every time a drug junkie dies?
