Ok need to vent!

So hubby has been coughing horribly and finally decided to go to the dr. He is very prone to getting bronchitis and turning to pneumonia very fast. Well the Dr said he has bronchitis and he has 48 hrs quarters. Well he is guessing they are not going to give it to him. All because he has 2 new baby joes that one needs a counselling packet put together and both need road gear since they are going on the road this weekend. I'm sorry send the NCO with the two senior SPCs to do it or atleast trade a new pvt for one of the spcs. UGH I just hope they let him come home so he can sleep and not wind up with pneumonia.

Yes I know the other day I was complaining of him sleeping but he wasn't sick yet, ok maybe he was but not like this. UGH Stupid company!

If those new joes are his responsibility, it is what it is.
Mission first. And getting his soldiers squared away is his mission right now.

I do understand that but if the dr tells you you need to go home they need to send him hom. They have 3 more days before they go on the road and why would you want someone to get sicker? Just hate when my husband is sick, mainly because he is a big baby.

Mine is a big baby when sick too. But quarters is a recommendation for something not serious. Bronchitis sucks, don't get me wrong, but nothing to be bed ridden over.
It's what would make him a good leader to get his joes squared away first. If it gets worse, I would tell him to back to sick call and see if its progressed to pneumonia as you said he does.

What's "on the road"? are they getting ready for the field or something?

He is an MP so they are getting ready to go and patrol the road for a while. They cycle the companys every few months as to which company patrols the road.

1 mom liked this

I might be in the minority here, but I get tired of commands thinking they know more than medical personnel.  Sure, not all illnesses are serious and worthy of being in bed, but bronchitis CAN be one of them.  DH had it last winter.  I had it as a teenager.  Neither of us was physically capable of dragging through a day's work at our sickest.  Once the meds kick in, great.

Well and what worries me so much is he is so prone to bronchitis but pneumonia is always right there with it. He was down with both like 3 months ago. The longer he waits the worse it gets.

I have to agree. My DH was on quarters for MRSA after his first deployment and had to fight with the command. They saw nothing wrong with a soldier on crutches with a highly contagious illness being at work...but his doctor did.  My thought is if medical personell says quarters then so be it. We had the same isse for quarters with strep throat and bronchitis and my first thought was about how him being there was going to infect others and guess what? It did...half the company had strep and 8 guys ended up with bronchitis.

Maybe your husband should talk to his command and push the issue not to come in. When my husband had quarters, he set everything put before letting his command know he was on 48 quarters. They sometimes are more likely to say nothing if they know it's all already taken care of. Then my husband makes his soldiers check in with him so he knows it getting done.
