I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I am Becky, I am currently pregnant with boy/girl twins. Their dad is in the Navy. We are not together and he has a new GF, so I am hear more about seeing what is available for my kids. I am an Army brat myself, I grew up in San Diego and have been a military S/O a few times, so I am also great at providing S/O support, but this is the first time I have been in this situation.

Thanks

Becky

You can file for CS when they are born. There is a good chance they will want a paternity test, and then they will order the amount. I *think* you can get it ordered to have him put the kids on his insurance.

Yes what Nikki said. And most cs orders have it where the dad is required to maintain insurance for the children. That would certainly help.

We're Navy and have known a few situations similar to this- if he refuses to put them on his page 2 and enroll them for tricare himself, you can get it ordered and then he will have to do it! also, if you are the primary caregiver(wich I'm assuming you will be since he could get depolyed unless he's on shore duty...) you can get a special ID card so that you can have base privledges for things for the children- EX: get on base for dr appts (if seen there...), use commisary/exchange to purchase food/clothing/etc. for the babies. good luck. <3

I'm a former Army brat too, swore I would never marry military but..... here I am. Congrats on your twins girl! And you will have no problem getting CS for sure by him being military that money will be taken out so quick he won't even know what hit him. The military is good about getting you your CS my best friend here at Ft. Carson gets CS from a sailor.

thanks everyone... he has never denied paternity and so he said that he plans on being on their BCs and putting them on his page 2 and all of that... I didn't know about the special base ID to be able to use the exchange and commissary... I miss my ID haha my grocery bill went up so fast when I aged out of DEERS

besure not to abuse it, they will take it away quick if you do- but you are able to purchase things for the chil/children. not sure all the details on how to get it, but i know it can be done.

This.

Good luck to you - I hope that he works with  you on this, it will  make it so much easier for everyone involved, but the Navy doesn't play when it comes to things like this.  You might have to prove they're his if he's a jerk about it, but they don't play with this.
