How many hours a day are/is your children/child in daycare? I am doing home daycare near Ft. Hood in a few months and I'm trying to figure out open and close times. Df says I should do 5am to 6pm because of pt and all that for mil on mil couples.

I would say 5:30 to about 6-6:30 and offer later if need be with either an extra charge or with enough notice!

Those would be good hours!  When I was at Riley I was lucky enough to get a spot for my son at the CDC that was 2 minutes away from my unit.  I would drop him off at 6 am and hurry up and go to PT.  They closed at 6 pm.  Since you are off base and it is Hood 5 is def a good time for drop off!  (I know when we were there it was a pain to get through the gates some mornings)

I worked from 0600 until 1800, and duty every 8 days, in the Navy. 6-6 is great. But like all the other moms said early and late drop off is a great thing. But be specific about your hours, cause 1 person will make it bad for all others......

I don't understand what you are saying. I don't need to know when anyone does pt really, I just need to make sure I am able to be open when people need me to be. I was just throwing early pt out as an example.

I was thinking of doing early/late pickup/drop offs for people who need it for a little extra. I am going to have to be a little strict about open and close times though just because Andrew (df) doesn't want a bunch of kids all over the house when he gets off work for too long but all these suggestions are very good. I am so excited to get there and get started. Andrew already has a little girl linned up for me =)

I have both of my kids in a home daycare by my house from 530am until 7pm just in case we cant get away from work. My husband and I try to work seperate shifts so that our kids spend less time in daycare even if we see less of each other. one of us will work the night shift and the other during the day so the kids are only in day care from 9am to 7pm, at least they can sleep in.

I would say 5:30am to 6pm... Most PT doesn't start until 6am and that would be plenty of time to drop off kids and get onto base for PT... If you find that is not early enough then you could obviously change the time to an earlier time...

I work 9 hours, sometimes more just depends. But my kid can't be in daycare longer than 10 hours so you should do something like that.
