My sons father is active duty, and says he wants 51/49 custody so he can put him on deers. This is after no communication from him since I told him I was pregnant, and after the state did a dna test because they required me to get a support order to keep medicaid. My job doesn't have insurance so I needed it as I can't afford the tricare for reservists. Is this true about deers? I have no intention of doing this as he needs to prove he's not an alcoholic with anger issues first. I also plan on contacting jag if he pushes the issue, he's not popping up and taking my son.

That's what I thought. If he genuinely wanted involvement he's had 5 months to do so.

he does not need custody to get tricare---- he does need custody to get Dep BAH. you can find these rules in the branch pay manual on line
