Anyone know how long you stay in Korea when you go CS? I can't remember if it's 2 years or 3. Thanks.

It depends on if you request 3. We just got two years accompanied orders, and he is opting for three. We ae active army so not sure if that makes a difference.

Skyy, how did you accompanied? I am wanting to Go back to Korea but not without my daughter. If I can't take her I don't wanna go, but I don't know how to get her on the orders.

They are my husbands orders. I know you have to go through travel once you receive them cause they will not just say accompanied. You have to request your family go through a levy briefing at your S1 and hen after the briefing is done go to travel, and the assist you from there with your Command Sponsorship paperwork. :)

I'm here in Korea CS'd right now. There really are so many variables that can affect how long you stay here. Command Sponsorship by itself will make it a 2 year tour, but you can AIP with CS and that will make it 3 or more depending on how your AIP works for you. We AIP'd and have been here 3 years this September, but will be here till March of 2013 because of a school that my husbands unit sent him TDY for. The deal was if he went to the school he owed the unit one year after he got back from the school, adding 6 months to our time here. I have a friend whose husband AIP'd twice and they will be here a total of 5 years. The most common thing is that if the service member comes over by themselves then it  a one year unaccompanied tour (unless he/she's in a command position), that service member can make it two years alone by AIP'ing. Or if they have their families here CS'd they stay for 2 years unless they AIP and then it's 3 years. Like I said, there are more variables, but that is the most common.

I know how long it is if you go unaccompanied cause I've been there single (DD is my Korean souvenir LOL), but I want to take my daughter with me and couldn't remember if it was 3 years or 2. I don't want to go over there without my LO is all. Thank you so much for your information!!
