Has anyone here ever been through or known anyone who's been through a court martial?

My soon to be ex is about to be court martialed ... I obviously can't reveal too much info, but was just wondering how long they usually last, how long it takes from the time charges are filed until the trial begins, stuff like that.

The one I was a part of.... From the time charges were filed to the end at sentencing was just over a year. I was called for a hearing and for the actualy trial. It was a really bad situation though so it took quite a lot longer then some other ones I had known about. The guy was up for a max time 74 years in prison, that kind of bad.

Wow that's a long time. All i've been told so far is that they have 120 days from the time the charges are filed until they have to start the trial. I'm not sure what all he's gonna be charged with because we're waiting on the results of the investigation into his computer hard drive. He's being charged with spouse and child abuse, that much I do know. I also have been told he's facing prison time, just not sure how much.

Now that I think about it, I have no clue when charges were filed. I was contacted for the first time by CID in the spring of 2009 and the trial ended in May of 2011....

Yes! I had a friend who went through it! Seemed stressful & long! He was lied to many times also!

In the end he was innocent and able to stay in the marines!

He's not innocent, I was the one who turned him in finally. Hardest thing i've ever had to do, but it had to be done. So far it's been very long (a little over 3 months now) and super stressful.

I had a friend who went through one.  His wasn't for anything to bad.  He 'fled' the scene of an accident.  They said he fled, by going in to find out whos car he hit.  I think it was less than 6 months, from charges to conclusion of trial.

I remember there being 2 big court martial trials at one base we were at.  Those were longer as they involved rape and other tramatic things, but I don't know exactly how long, as I wasn't invloved.  I know it was atleast 18  months from the breaking of the 'story' to the conclusion of the trial.
