Base Housing question

what are the rules for room mate type situations?

I am having a "debate" of sorts regarding this. A certain person seems to think that having a room mate (one who pays) is perfectly legal and acceptable and does not need to be reported to housing.

I however, say otherwise.

Just wondering if anyone knows for sure.

We had to register our guests and they had a 30 day limit in our homes.

In my experience, it has to do with the housing company. IDK about housing that is actually ran by the base but I've only lived in privitized housing. Here they allow you to have a room mate but they have to be military or DOD civilian and be on the lease. IN VA, you had to register people and if they weren't on the lease there was a time limit.

Not allowed here and subletting is illegal...  (where your roommate pays you)

With our last base you had to notify housing of anyone was staying more than two weeks.

Don't know about our current one, we're living off post this time.

That's not even allowed in off base housing if you get bah, let alone in actual base housing.

1 mom liked this

maybe I am misunderstanding what you are saying, but that doesnt seem right. If you rate BAH, then I am pretty sure that you can have room mates in a private home....

Not allowed. No visitors for longer then 30 days either. Atleast it's been that way on both bases we have lived on

Not without reporting it, which could cause a change to the bah allowance. The OP also included not reporting in the question.
